About Allen Calmes
I was born in 1994 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. From a young age, my parents introduced me to rock and roll, folk, bluegrass, classical, funk, and early experimental electronic music. It wasn't until I discovered the music in film and video games that I truly appreciated the emotional potential to be found in songwriting. Supported by my mother Dianne and my father, locally renowned folk guitarist Robert Calmes, I began learning piano at age 8, and began writing my own music at age 15.
I attended the Louisiana School for Math, Science, and Arts where I studied composition and theory under Dr Al Benner, and learned studio recording under John Shore at the high school auditorium, recording student recitals. I went on to study music for video games under artists like Wataru Hokoyama, Gerard Marino, and Paul Lipson at Berklee School of Music. Later, I studied more classical and jazz composition, and then completed an additional course in film music again at Berklee.
To date, I have written for several independent films, one full length documentary on netflix, and over 10 different video games, as well as providing my music for miscellaneous projects such as websites, webcomics, advertisements, and promotional videos.
I currently still reside in Baton Rouge working on my composition as well as my career in the IT field. I spend much of my free time working on new albums, which release internationally on all major platforms including apple music, spotify, google music, and more.
